Staying healthy, raising healthy children, and eating right are the focus of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) outreach programs. The FCHS program provides research-based information on food, nutrition, fitness, health, and food safety. Each year FCHS provides classes, workshops and exhibits; sends out Visions and County Visions, the FCHS department newsletter; and reaches about 26,000 households with a monthly newspaper column in the Sunday New Jersey Herald. Our goal is to improve the health of New Jersey individuals, families, and communities.
These courses are developed to address the needs of the county and provide information that is accurate, reliable, current, and research-based. Our programs are offered throughout the county and are frequently presented in collaboration with local agencies and organizations as seminars and workshops.
